Pre and Post Care Instructions

• Avoid the following for 2 weeks prior to treatment: 
• Aspirin (any product containing acetylsalicylic acid, e.g., Excedrin)
• Vitamin E
• St. John’s Wort
• Dietary supplements such as ginkgo biloba, evening primrose oil, garlic, feverfew, and ginseng
• Note: If aspirin is medically prescribed, please continue taking it as directed by your physician.
   
• Avoid for 48 hours before treatment: 
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (e.g., Advil, Motrin) 
• Alcohol
  
• Arrive with a clean face:
• If possible, come to your appointment with a freshly washed face and no makeup.
   
• Avoid facial treatments and massages for 7 days post-treatment:
• These can cause product migration or increase swelling and bruising.
   
• Plan ahead:
• Schedule your dermal filler appointment at least 2–3 weeks before any major events or special occasions to allow adequate time for healing.

(Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau, etc.)

• Avoid the following for at least 24–48 hours before your appointment (if medically safe to do so):
  • Blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), and other NSAIDs
  • Alcohol
  • Vitamin E, fish oil, and herbal supplements like ginkgo, garlic, ginseng, and St. John’s Wort
  • Note: If you are on blood-thinners prescribed by a doctor, please continue them as directed and notify your injector prior to treatment.
     
• Avoid scheduling your appointment during the following 
  • Active cold sores or skin infections in the treatment area
  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or currently ill with cold/flu symptoms
  • 
    
• Arrive with a clean face:
  • Please come to your appointment with no makeup and a freshly washed face.
     
• Plan ahead:
  • Schedule your treatment at least 2 weeks before any major events to allow time for results to take full effect and for any potential bruising or swelling to resolve.
     
• Avoid strenuous activity or lying down for 4–6 hours after treatment (we’ll remind you after your visit, too!).

To ensure the best results and reduce the risk of side effects, please follow the instructions below after your dermal filler treatment:

• Mild side effects such as swelling, redness, firmness, tenderness, or itching are normal and may last up to 2 weeks.
   
• You may apply cool packs or ice packs (wrapped in a clean cloth) as needed to reduce swelling and discomfort.
   
• Sleep with your head elevated (on 2–3 pillows) for the first night to help minimize swelling.
   
• Do not massage, press, or manipulate the treated area unless specifically instructed by your injector.
   
• Wait 4 to 6 hours before applying makeup, lip products (e.g., lip gloss, lipstick), moisturizers, or any topical products to the treated area.
   
• Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, or extreme cold until any redness or swelling has resolved.
   
• Avoid strenuous exercise or activities that raise your heart rate or blood pressure (including hot yoga or saunas) for 24 hours post-treatment.
   
• While results are visible immediately, optimal results are typically seen once swelling subsides—usually within 2 weeks.
   
• You may take Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) for any post-treatment discomfort, as directed on the label.
   
• If you experience itching, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) may be taken per package instructions.
   Caution: Benadryl may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking it.
   
• If you received lip injections, avoid eating raw or undercooked foods (e.g., sushi, ceviche, raw meats) for at least 6 hours to reduce the risk of infection.

(Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau)

To ensure optimal results and minimize the risk of side effects, please follow these post-treatment guidelines:

• Mild bumps or swelling at the injection sites are normal and typically resolve within a few hours.
   
• Neuromodulators begin working within 2–7 days, with full effects seen around 14 days.
   
• If additional product is needed, a touch-up can only be performed after 14 days from your initial treatment.
   

• Do not lie down or bend forward (this includes avoiding naps or low head positions).
   
• Avoid rubbing, touching, or massaging the treated areas.

Mild bruising is a common and temporary side effect after injectable treatments. To help reduce bruising:

• Apply a cold compress for short intervals (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) during the first 24 hours.
   
• Avoid blood-thinning supplements or medications unless prescribed by your doctor.
   
• You may use Arnica gel or oral Arnica tablets, which can help speed up the healing process.
   
• Bruising typically resolves within a few days to 2 weeks, depending on the area treated and your skin's sensitivity.
   
• If you’re concerned or the bruise becomes unusually large or painful, please contact our office for guidance.

Yes, small bumps, swelling, or firmness at the injection sites are common and typically resolve within a few days to two weeks. This is part of the body’s normal healing response.

• Do not massage or press on the area unless specifically instructed by your injector.
   
• Apply cool compresses wrapped in a clean towel—do not place ice or cold packs directly on the skin to avoid irritation or frostbite.
   
• If bumps persist beyond two weeks or feel hard or painful, please contact our office for a follow-up.

It’s common for slight asymmetry or the need for a small touch-up to occur after your initial treatment. We recommend waiting the full 14 days after your injection, as this allows the product to settle and results to fully develop.

If you still feel you need additional treatment or correction after that period, you can schedule a touch-up appointment. Touch-ups help achieve the best, most balanced results and are a normal part of the process.

Please note: Additional product units or filler used during touch-up appointments may incur an extra charge, which will be communicated and agreed upon beforehand.

 Vascular occlusion is a rare but serious complication where a blood vessel becomes blocked. It’s important to recognize early signs and contact your provider immediately if you experience any of the following:

• Sudden, severe pain at or near the injection site
   
• Pale, white, or bluish discoloration of the skin
   
• Unusual blanching or coolness in the treated area
   
• Blurred vision or visual disturbances (if near the eyes)
   
• Skin that appears dusky, purple, or develops blisters
